my friend collette said it best...i have a case of the mondays. luckily it's temporary and the doctor said that it will magically disappear at 12:00:01 tonight.
i had a fantabulous weekend! on friday i put the finishing touches on my very first real-life design project that was due saturday. i felt like i needed some inspiration, so mary and i took a trip to z gallerie where i saw at least 47 things that i wanted to buy for myself. one of the best parts of interior design is that you get to find really cool stuff and buy it with OTHER people's money. way more fun than spending my own, even if i don't get to keep or use the stuff. and possibly the best part is that i actually get paid to do the same stuff i'm paying to do in school. super cool.
so i finished that project and showed it to melissa (my new boss) on saturday afternoon. she LOVED it, and she even said i could meet the client this thursday and work with her myself. whoa. i was not ready for that. i'm one of those behind-the-scenes people, and all of a sudden i get to meet real people who are going to pay for and then live in my designs. craaaaaaaaazy. but exciting.
i got one of my favorite sandwiches from foster's market in durham for lunch, and then i took a 2-hour nap later that day. i was pooped from all of that designing. i even got work done saturday night...but only because the cable was out.
on sunday i helped sue anne find some new clothes for interviews, and in the process i found the most awesomest winter coat ever. i tried it on three (possibly four) times and even walked clear to the other side of the mall and back before finally deciding to get it. (the fact that i went down a size was definitely a factor in the decision.) now if it ever gets below 95 degrees i might actually get a chance to wear it this winter.
to finish my weekend, i spent five glorious hours in the computer lab working on AutoCAD stuff for one of my classes. this was not my favorite way to end a great weekend, but i did feel quite a sense of accomplishment from it.
and now it is monday. i've already been to class, endured a meeting, swam a 1/2 mile, took a shower, and eaten a semi-healthy lunch. the rest of the day includes working on the next project for melissa (designing a piece of furniture - that's different!), perhaps getting some groceries since i have almost nothing in my apartment, buying a new scale because mine has been lying to me (i feel so betrayed...), and honor council. busy busy day. and a busy busy week coming up overall. come to think of it, monday isn't so bad compared to the rest of the week. yikes.
