tvs and garbage

i am absolutely limping through this week. sorry to be a whiner, and a broken record. i've stopped just short of counting the hours and minutes until noon friday...but it might have to come to that. i need to snap out of this, or i'm going to be in trouble!

i think i'm one of those all-or-nothing people. i hate doing things half-assed (pardon the expression), so i prefer to do them either 100% or not at all. this is great for when i'm motivated and focused and enthusiastic about something, which is probably about half of the time. this is not great for the other half of the time, which is now.

i just had a sudden flash of the illustration from the poem "sarah cynthia sylvia stout would not take the garbage out" by shel silverstein. do you remember that one? the illustration (see below) is this huge leaning pile of grody garbage that's on the verge of falling over, and an odd-looking girl (i'm guessing sarah) is running away frantically from the pile with her hair flying out behind her. i am sarah cynthia sylvia stout, and the endless list of things i need to get done is the ginormous mound of garbage. and according to shel, "Poor Sarah met an awful fate..." this is not encouraging.

you know who else i resemble? jimmy jet and his tv set.

that shel silverstein was an insightful man. and wonderfully weird.

Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout is my most favorite!! I'm glad you enjoy it too! I feel like her pile of garbage resembles what my inbox has looked like this week...luckily i've cleaned it all out and accomplished a lot in the past few days...I'm down to 16 messages that need some follow up or require action/work of some kind...that's a drastic improvement!! In ten minutes it will be Friday...I'm excited about that!
