it's monday, and it's been a GOOD day. this never happens. i am totally against mondays and believe they should be removed from the calendar entirely. but today has been a good one.
it started with the usual monday morning meeting during which i composed a lengthy to-do list. as i would write something down, i would remember two other things. then i would write those down, and remember four more. and on it went until i was writing things down that i need to do in JULY. i think i got a little carried away.
after some chit-chat in the office, lunch from the dining hall (which was pretty yummy AND free), and puzzles from nationalgeographic.com (i'm now addicted), i delayed my office hours by an hour and headed out for some errands. i returned some items to ac moore because, frankly, i just can't afford them. i enjoyed my two adventures to wine & design so much, and i thought perhaps i would enjoy painting on my own. but paint is expensive (even the cheap kind), and i decided i didn't want to paint enough to justify the expense. so that was a nice refund to the bank account.
then i went to askew taylor, and i adore that place. i went in search of a new mat cutter because my current one is just a few inches too short to cut standard 32" wide mat board. the next size up is 40", but that one cost a whopping $206. i said no thank you! but the guy was incredibly helpful, and he found something else that i can use for a mere $62. much better. so i'm going to give it a try, and if it doesn't work, i can return it. whew!
office hours were pretty standard. the same students stop by every. single. day. but it's nice to chat with them, especially when they have exciting news about graduate school and summer jobs. i appreciate that they like to share their accomplishments with me.
dinner was leftovers from dinner with emily, zack, & co at relish cafe last night. it was almost as delicious as last night, and it was free. or at least that's how i like to think of it.
then i organized my office. this needed to be done for weeks now. it's not exactly how i want it, but i can see my white desk, my paper pile is only about 7 sheets high, and the dust bunnies are gone from the corners. it feels great to walk through my apartment and not feel like i need to clean/straighten/organize everything in sight.
and - the best part of the day - i went to water aerobics at my new gym. i joined at the end of january, and this is the first time i've convinced myself to actually go. i was by far the youngest person in the pool, but our instructor worked us hard. i felt terrific when i got out.
then i treated myself to a frappuccino. lite, of course. :)
and now it's time for our weekly staff meeting. we are already talking about closing the buildings and getting people moved out. this year has absolutely FLOWN by. i can't believe it's april, next week is stunt, then celebrating student achievement day (possibly one of my favorite days here), then spring fling, reading day, exams, class day...then POOF. graduation. if every day between now and may 6th is anything like today, it'll be a great 5 weeks.
