day 10

honestly, there hasn't been much to write about the last two days. it has been more of the same - exercise, nutrition, eating less, moving more, trying not to think about soft drinks and chick-fil-a all the time...today was different, though. it was weigh-in day for almost everyone in the program. apparently wednesdays are the worst days at the DFC because it is weigh-in day, and now i know why. i've been telling myself since i started that it's not about the numbers, that i'm there to get healthy and change my life, and that it's all about how i feel - not the number on the scale. but when the number on the scale pops up and it's not nearly what you were hoping it would be, it is incredibly disappointing. the doctor reminded me that the people who are losing 6 and 7 and 10 pounds in a week are the people who have to lose 100-200 pounds total, and i am definitely not in that category (thankfully). still, it was disheartening. i spent the next 15 minutes crying and sniffing and wishing someone would give me a tissue, and i decided to take some time off to throw myself a big ol' pity party. i missed lunch but managed to eat a sensible one a few hours later, and i spent the rest of the day catching up on cleaning and doing errands i've been putting off for a while. it felt good to not think about diet and exercise for a little while, and the pity party is now over. i'm proud of myself for not immediately rushing to starbucks to get a giant frappuccino or some other fattening sugary treat to make me feel better (although i just got a coupon from starbucks for a free drink...tempting, very tempting). less than two weeks ago that would've been my first instinct, so at least that's changing. i did have a small bit of coke at lunch and it tasted weird! way sweeter (almost sickeningly so) than i remembered, and now that i've had a little maybe i won't crave it so much anymore. i'm hoping that this week i can kick my metabolism into a higher gear, so tomorrow it's back to 'normal.' wish me luck!

I'm enjoying your updates...you're doing great! However I'm still sad that you aren't here anymore and are leaving me to fend for myself among these crazy GSE folks!

I think I can help you with the Picasa thing...I've done those albums before. It seemed to be less frustrating than this BubbleShare thing. Thanks for the advice on the GSE folks...I'll be ready for them tonight!
