and on the 7th day...

aaaaah sunday...just a few weeks ago i was lamenting sundays because they meant that monday was soon to follow. i am happy to say that today was actually a real rest day, and i have thoroughly enjoyed it. i did actually drag myself to the DFC by 9:00 a.m. to get breakfast (2 tiny whole wheat blueberry pancakes the size of my palm plus sugar free maple syrup...and that was it), and then i did the weight circuit for the first time. it involves 12 machines that work arms and legs, and i was definitely feeling it by the time i was done. can you say jell-o? i had originally planned to swim laps, but i decided that i needed and deserved rest. i've only been back to eat lunch and dinner, and i spent the rest of the day watching the epic wimbledon final between roger federer and rafael nadal and flipping channels during the rain delays. i was pulling for federer, but nadal won. what a great game, though.

when i went back for dinner, the new clients were in the middle of their orientation. i am no longer one of the newbies! it feels great to have one week done, but suddenly four weeks doesn't sound like a long time at all. i feel significantly better than i did a week ago - lighter, less tired, more energy, i don't have that constant bloaty feeling...just healthier. and that's just after 1 week. the first weigh-in is wednesday morning, and i'm a little worried about it. if i lose even 1 pound i'll be thrilled. but if i haven't lost anything or if i've even gained (which is possible), i'm worried that i'll be completely discouraged. i just have to remember that weight is a number, and i chose to do this to FEEL better as well as look better. it has taken me a good 15 years to put all of this weight on, and it might take me a year or more to take it all off. i just have to keep at it, and thankfully when this is all done, i will have the tools to help me do that.

tomorrow is back to reality, though! more cardio, weights, stretching, and learning. plus i'll start meeting all of the new people and help them start getting adjusted to a totally different life.
