i just spent about an hour trying to give myself a proper manicure. the end result is that my left hand looks pretty darn awesome, and my right hand looks like pooh. i don't have the time or even the patience to re-paint my right hand, and i'm so proud of my left hand that i don't want to take the polish off. so i might be walking around for a few days with one manicured hand and one plain one (with traces of deep red polish that will not come off no matter how much remover i put on the cotton ball). don't laugh if you see me like this.
also, i made an appointment yesterday to get my hair cut and highlighted. this is a big deal for me...not so much the cut since i get it cut about once every two months. but the whole highlighting thing is a major deal. i've only ever dyed my hair once, and it was in 12th grade with stuff you buy from rite aid (it was red dye, by the way). my sisters have been bugging me for years to get highlights, and i've finally caved. but i have two problems with this: 1) once you start highlighting, it seems like you can never stop and you're committed to years of expensive trips to the salon, and 2) having to highlight my hair means that it's not quite blond anymore. i hate that.
for years, washing my face was the extent of my beauty regime. if you can even call it that. so to add nail polish and highlights to it makes me high maintenance compared to what i was. does this mean i'm growing up, or growing old?
oh! i thought of another issue i have with getting highlights...i'm going to have to sit in a chair at the salon with all of that foil in my hair! not cool. i usually laugh at those people, and now i'll be one. sheesh.
