california, here we come!

 

the tickets are bought, and my mom and i are officially heading to california in may! our itinerary isn't completely nailed down yet, so we are flying back out of vegas instead of los angeles in case we decide that the grand canyon actually is possible. i'd rather not go there and get to spend extra time in a fun place like san francisco. apparently my uncle is something of a speed traveler - he likes to cram in as much as possible and doesn't spend a whole lot of time exploring each location. i, on the other hand, like to get the feel of a place. especially overseas - i want to spend as much time as i can in one location and eventually feel like something of a local. (side note - one of my favorite memories of being in italy in 2003 was going to the 'bar' early on the first morning in venice and ordering a coffee with all of the true locals on their way to work. i felt like one of the gang.) i'm excited to start planning our trip!
